I just received my Alpha Industries M65 jacket, and it's the perfect jacket for anyone seeking a super rugged, military-grade, and functional piece. I work as an international photojournalist, and I'm always looking for functional clothing that can take abuse without looking like travelwear. Forget spending twice as much for an LL Bean or Filson field jacket. This is the real-deal for a lot less money. It's very well constructed and has the feel of a garment that will hold for many years of use. The fit is also just right (I'm 6'1" 200 pounds with a 43" chest and a large is just right) with enough room for layering, but without being excessively bulky. The weight is also quite hefty. I doubt you would ever need to add a liner but for the coldest of climates. My only dislikes are fairly minor. The built-in hood is useless for anything other than camouflage. Also, the sleeve cuff extensions are something of a nuisance, although they can be folded inside the cuff and secured with the velcro tabs.
